Kecksburg · Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania

On December 9, 1965, a brilliant fireball crossed the Great Lakes and the Northeast. Astronomers traced that meteor to an end near western Lake Erie, far from this village. People here reported something in the woods, but no confirmed wreckage was recovered.
